Covid-19 Pandemic Guidelines Please be advised that masks will be required of students and staff as the school year gets underway this year. Mayor Domenic Sarno made the announcement during a press conference. Mayor Sarno pointed out that the decision was made in consultation with the City's Health Commission and SPS, and he reminded the community that local, state and federal health officials continue to strongly recommend vaccinations to protect individual and community health.
Per the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education – full in-person learning has begun
Social distancing within the classroom are done to the best of Springfield Public Schools (SPS) ability up to three (3) ft.
Face masks are required for all students, teachers, staff and visitors – regardless of vaccination status
*Exceptions include for medical and/or religious
Face masks will be required for travel on all SPS buses
SPS will continue with pool COVID-19 testing
SPS will continue to work with students and parents on permission slips to vaccinate students
Behavior and Discipline Students must follow Covid guidelines and the SPS Code of Conduct Students that do not follow the guidelines will be sent home for the day.
Uniforms The color required for our school uniforms this year will be ROYAL BLUE Polos & Beige or Black pants. School Supplies LAPTOPS- Students are required to bring their laptops with chargers to school every day.
MASKS- Students are to have and wear their masks at all times within our school campus, regardless if they have been vaccinated or not. OTHER SCHOOL SUPPLIES- Students may bring a Backpack to school and are expected to have writting utencils every day. Our school will provide any other school supplies required during the school year. If for any reason your child will require any other school supply, you will be notified beforehand.
Immunizations / Physical Records for the NURSES School immunization requirements exist to protect students and members of their community from serious vaccine-preventable diseases by ensuring high vaccination rates. At this moment your child is not required to have a Covid-19 vaccine to attend school, although it is highly recommended. If you are interested in vaccinating your child prior to the commencement of the school year, please contact your child's Primary Care physician, or go onto https://www.mass.gov/covid-19-vaccine for more information.
Every school year, our school nurses need a copy of your child's most up to date physical and immunization record. These can be faxed to our office at (413) 787-7247
